District Day

D5 District Days 2008

What a wonderful weekend of painting, learning and sisterhood! To all of you that attended the 2008 District Days at the Sheraton Lansing....THANK YOU!! All of you helped to make this event a huge success! We had representation from Beta Theta, Gamma Mu, Delta Nu-B, Delta Sigma, Zeta Tau, Detroit Suburban, Mid-Michigan Crown, Alpha Sigma Alpha Headquarters, Alpha Sigma Alpha Foundation, Alpha Sigma Alpha National Council and District 5 volunteers! Between all of these, we had about 100 women in attendance!
Participants had opportunities to learn about the 4 Letter "F" Word, Dining with Dolly, How to Foil a Thief, The Radical Leap and other things, too. UB Greek was present with lots of great items for sale and the Mid-Michigan Crown chapter set up a red ticket raffle. With all of the opportunities laid out before the women at District Days, D5 was able to pull through and succeed the goals that were set in front of them. Together we achieved the 100th sister mark for the 1901 Society and raised over $3,000 for the Alpha Sigma Alpha Foundation! Thank you to everyone that participated in this challenge! What a great accomplishment! GO D5!!!

A Note from Stephanie

My name is Stephanie Wirtz.  I am an alum of Central Michigan University and Beta Theta Chapter of Alpha Sigma Alpha.  While I was an active, I served as the Junior Pan-Hellenic Delegate, Historian and Social Chair. I learned a lot while I was an active member of this sorority. Much of what I learned applies to the job I do today!
I am currently living in Midland and I work in Saginaw. I work at the Saginaw Community Foundation. My title is Saginaw County's Promise Coordinator. Basically, I am developing the program of Saginaw County's Promise into an organization that provides and promotes youth programs. I work with committees and a Board of Directors, write newsletters, plan meetings, events and programs, among many other things. I love my job and the people I work with!
I am also a member of the Junior League of Saginaw Valley and a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteer for the Child Abuse and Neglect Council.
